All aboard the Food Revolution

The global Covid-19 crisis revealed the powerful role that business can play in society. To reaffirm and amplify that role, companies must strike the right balance between managing their own impact and performance, and looking outwards to rally stakeholders and civil society behind a shared vision of positive transformation.

This is why Danone chose to become the first listed company to adopt France’s new Entreprise à Mission (purpose-driven company) status, which requires us to pursue a purpose and objectives that benefit society and the environment (forming our ‘Mission’).

Our purpose, first formulated in 2005, is “to bring health through food to as many people as possible”.

The social and environmental objectives that make up our mission are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and cover four dimensions:

  • Impact people’s health locally
  • Preserve and renew the planet’s resources
  • Entrust Danone’s people to create new futures
  • Foster inclusive growth

We want you to be part of this mission. We’ve identified five battlefronts – and we hope you’ll join the movement.

Please read on to learn more about these issues and explore our impact and performance report.

Impact & performance

At Danone, we believe that we can have a collective impact. By working together to ensure that any economic rebound is both planet-friendly and socially inclusive. And by encouraging everyone - businesses, civil society, politicians, citizens and consumers - to contribute to sustainable performance and impact, starting here and now.
